"Pongáio" was the name my Aunt Mona gave to a long, green, cool room where we gathered at her home —
replete with comfy chairs, a rocker, sewing machine, sewing goods, beautiful beads, shelves, books, bibelots, photographs, odds'n'ends, mementos of a life, treasures —
a gathering of all the useful & 'useless' things that so make life a pleasure.

Mars to Shapely 8

"That said, Mars will be heading over the degree of super-massive galactic anomaly, Shapley 8, in the next days as well. Shapley 8 is a huge gravitational steering mechanism that does galactic flight control for the Great Attractor, our group of local galaxies and our galaxy. With Mars transiting this point, expect draws and pulls outside of the typical realm of influence.
Let’s say a person walks down the street of a Christmas street fair. As they pass a vendor’s booth, the sunlight aligns perfectly with glass orbs inside some cool spinning device that is an amazing window decoration. It’s awesome! You could get lost in that dang thing. If you had it hanging in a window where the morning Sun can spread light though the sphere in visually tantalizing spectrums, you could get lost in it.
Would getting lost in the visual display offer you inspiration, restore frustration with awe, and inspire an understanding of the mysteries of the universe? Or would you idly dream away endless hours with no perceivable gain? Saturn in Capricorn will want to know.
Mars to Shapley 8 will impel you to attend to ideas and activities that were not on your agenda. Will these gravitational disturbances more perfectly direct your path in the next days? Will the distractions seed new life-altering activities? Is the investment of energy in accord with the best intentions of your soul? The answer lies in the intent with which one applies Martian effort.
It’s a great thing that the Mercury-Earth-Sun alignment virtually coincides with Mars to Shapley 8. Develop an instinctive overlay to all those galactically potent pulls that demand your action to ensure that you consider the previously unimaginable, the potentially daunting and the most certainly life changing within the most appropriate commitment of your energy to cause."

From Sagg (Whew!) to Cap

Well... an eventful ride... deeply significant, as a sagg.
And now...
CONTINUES!!!

From Here to Saturn in Capricorn
— Eric Francis Coppolino

"Just before noon Eastern time on Tuesday, Dec. 19, Saturn arrives in Capricorn. Saturn’s pass over the Galactic Core and through the last degrees of Sagittarius describes the high-pressure madness we’ve been seeing, as well as the feeling of some people waking up.

For a brief refresher, Saturn (associated with structure, productivity, responsibility and authority) orbits the Sun in about 29 years, and therefore takes about two-and-a-half to three years to pass through each sign. It’s been in Sagittarius since late 2014 and is about to enter Capricorn. This particular change is significant in that Saturn will be entering a sign that it rules for the first time in a generation and, in the process, will make an aspect to the Aries Point, with its theme of the personal meeting the collective. This also commences the Saturn-Pluto conjunction, which peaks in 2020."
...
"Along that line of thought, last week dwarf-planet candidate Quaoar entered Capricorn. Quaoar, discovered in 2002 (in Sagittarius, where it was till a few days ago), was considered such an important discovery at the time that it was given the honorific minor planet number 50,000. Its overarching theme is the creation myth and family patterns.

One discussion we have not heard in the mix of all the #metoo protests is the connection between how people conduct themselves in corporations and government, and how that relates (and indeed has its origins in) the family. However, we do need to keep that in mind, since psychology has done an excellent job of mapping that out. This is a subject to focus on as Saturn makes its one and only conjunction to Quaoar, for this Saturn cycle, on Saturday, Dec. 23. (The next one is March 11, 2051.)

Also note that Mars is now in Scorpio, having just arrived Saturday. This represents an infusion of sexual energy, in the style of hormonal desire, into the current equation. For quite a while, Mars has been in Libra, and its presence in Scorpio, a sign Mars rules, is more palpable. So that, too, is influencing our environment. The assertion is being made over and over again that “this is all about power; it’s not about sex,” though that’s barely possible to demonstrate, much less to prove. Mars is a reminder to own your sexuality, your desire, your choices and your freedom to choose."
...

"Tuesday, Dec. 12, Vesta and Jupiter form a conjunction in Scorpio. This describes the wisdom of sexuality, and the fact that any actual discussion of sexuality requires the acquisition of knowledge and a deep form of self-honesty. ...
...
If Scorpio is also the sign of psychology, then this conjunction also suggests a commitment to internal work — and to conscious magnanimity; that is, actively practicing generosity and mercy, and perhaps forgiveness."

No perhaps... forgiveness is the work!

Saturn-Pluto, Love and Trust

"...
things are only likely to get more (shall we say) impressive as the next few seasons and years unfold.
The central feature is the Saturn-Pluto conjunction in Capricorn, synonymous with the U.S. Pluto return. The New York Times quoted me recently as saying that “we are entering the biggest point of reckoning in American history since the Civil War.”
...
The current astrology is a mash-up in Sagittarius, as Saturn clears the Galactic Core and heads to Capricorn and an aspect to the Aries Point. Mercury retrograde lasts through Dec. 22, three days after Saturn enters Capricorn and a whole new phase of history begins.

In these weeks, pay attention to what you do, say, sign or otherwise commit to. Keep your priorities set on the truly meaningful matters of life.

What we’re witnessing isn’t even the new normal. It’s the opening act to what will be a kind of endgame. And we will need one another’s love and support — beginning right now. I mean this literally, and directly. Help anyone you can, so long as nobody is hurt in the process. Offer your support wherever you notice it’s needed. Solve any problem that you can. Use your resources to make things easier for people. Buy meals for homeless people. Refer people to those who can help them. Whatever you can do. Think of this kind of transaction as your basic function in life.

Through this time it’s going to be essential that we keep our spiritual footing. This might involve meditation (I keep hearing people say they’ve started up their practice again). Really, though, it’s about being friendly. To sum up the teachings of Jesus, Buddha and the Beatles in a few words, we need to be friendly to one another.

We need to remember that trust is a voluntary act; and that as a poet once wrote, without love in a day, insanity is king. Most of all, we need to remember that our healing process is not about what happens out there but rather what happens in here. We are past the point where spirituality can be some abstract philosophy.

Gloriosa
Hildegard von Bingen was an 11th century mystic born into a noble family near Bingen, in Germany's Rhineland. As a child she saw and spoke with angelic messengers regularly. As an adult she founded and led two Benedictine monasteries for women, traveled and spoke publicly to great crowds, and was a renowned healer. Her advice was sought by the church hierarchy and kings alike, while her writings received the papal blessings. She was also a prolific playright and musician. Hildegard spoke of her music as being a translation of the "Cosmic Symphony" which she heard during her visions. Gloriosa is an adaptation of lyrics from Hildegard’s “Ave Generosa,” set to new music.

Ave Maria generosa
Sancta Maria gloriosa

O pulcherrima, et dulcissima, quam valde Deus in te delectabatur.
Venter enim tuus gaudium habuit cum omnis celestis sonuit.
Tu candidum lilium quod deus ante omnem creaturam inspexit

Hail noble Mary!
Holy glorious Mary!
O lovely and tender one, how greatly has God delighted in you.
Your womb held joy with all the celestial symphony sounding through you.
You appeared as a shining white lily, as God looked upon you before all of Creation.

Anger

"Anger is the elephant in the room. We give it many different names, and dress it up in different issues, which can all feel righteous one way or another. It’s still just anger. Coming along with it is plenty of the usual (or excess) guilt, which is just resentment directed inwardly. Said another way, guilt is a form of repressed rage directed at oneself. It has nothing to do with the alleged thing about which one feels guilty; that’s a ruse." — Eric Francis, It's Gonna Get Stranger

Super Highway to Nowhere

Eric Francis writes, and quotes Lakota Shaman Lame Deer :

"Where do we think we’re going? Lakota Shaman Lame Deer wrote many years ago that Americans are on 'the road to nowhere — a paved highway which they themselves bulldoze and make smooth so that [humans] can get faster to the big empty hole which they’ll find at the end, waiting to swallow them up.' He may as well have been referring to the “information superhighway,” which is an early term for the internet. It’s definitely starting to feel like a road to nowhere."

John “Lame Deer, Tahca Ushte” Fire, author of Lame Deer, Seeker of Visions.
Only humans have come to a point where they no longer know why they exist. They don’t use their brains, and they have forgotten the secret knowledge of their bodies, their senses, or their dreams. They don’t use the knowledge the spirit has put into every one of them; they are not even aware of this, and so they stumble along blindly on the road to nowhere — a paved highway which they themselves bulldoze and make smooth so that they can get faster to the big empty hole which they’ll find at the end, waiting to swallow them up. It’s a quick comfortable superhighway, but I know where it leads to. I’ve seen it. I’ve been there in my vision, and it makes me shudder to think about it.

Wild World

... feeling a little peculiaarrr...
WHAT'S GOING ON???!!!

Yes, that about sums it up on certain nights... and days... of this wordly ride!

Note: I see from the comments that it was on a recently cancelled, and much bereaved, Netflix program, or from some He Man meme. But, I just hear it on the radio now and then, and it always caught my attention. Finally sat down and youtubed it!

Twenty-five years and my life is still
Trying to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination

And I realized quickly
When I knew I should
That the world was made up of this brotherhood of men
For whatever that means

And so I cry sometimes
When I'm lying in bed
Just to get it all out
What's in my head
And I, I am feeling a little peculiar

And so I wake in the morning
And I step outside
And I take a deep breath and I get real high
And I scream at the top of my lungs
WHAT'S GOING ON???

And I say, hey-ey-ey-ey Hey-ey-ey
I said Hey! What's going on?
And I say hey-ey-ey-ey Hey-ey-ey
I said HEY!!! WHAT'S GOING ON???
Ooh, ooh, ooh

And I try, oh my God, do I try
I try all the time, in this institution
And I pray, oh my God, do I pray
I pray every single day
For a revolution

Twenty-five years and my life is still
Trying to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination

The Perfect System - Leo Baubata

I have been reading his blog and receiving newsletters from Leo Baubata for some years now.
This email is soooo timely, that just have to post all of it!!!

And, in checking to reblog, just found out that he has chosen something that in this day and age is amazing, and truly inspiring, which is "Open Source Blogging".

zen habits: The Perfect System

Posted: 14 Apr 2017 10:41 AM PDT
By Leo Babauta
Most of us are constantly looking for the Perfect System:
§ The perfect morning routine
§ The perfect system for dealing with email
§ The perfect system for productivity, to end procrastination
§ The perfect system for finances or building wealth
§ The perfect system for learning anything
§ The perfect system for being mindful, getting fit, losing weight, decluttering, building new habits, being a parent, building a new career, and on and on
Entire industries are built off of this desire to find the perfect system for anything that you have uncertainty about.
I know, because I’ve spent a good deal of my life looking for the Perfect System in so many areas. I’ve developed nearly perfect systems in many parts of my life.
But today, I’m going to share something I’ve worked years developing: my Perfect System.
Perfect System for what? For anything, my friend. Anything in life. All of it.
But first, let’s look at why other systems fail.

Why All Other Systems are Crushed

You can put your morning routine into the perfect order, but it won’t solve your problems. Why not? Because it doesn’t address your root problem. It’s only a surface solution.
The root problem is uncertainty.
Let me repeat that, because it’s the key to all of this: the root problem we’re trying to solve when we’re looking for the perfect system in any area of our life is uncertainty.
Does your day feel chaotic, overwhelming, uncontrolled? Then you try to address that chaos by finding a perfect system.
Are you entering a new, scary area in your life? Then you try to find out how others conquered the uncertainty of this area, what their perfect system was. You’d probably be willing to pay hundreds of dollars, if not thousands, for their perfect system.
Are you overwhelmed by email, social media, finances, habits, diet and exercise, clutter, and more? Then you try to deal with the chaos and uncertainty of all of that by buying a book, a program, a course that teaches you the perfect system. I have a few to sell you.
But the certainty you’re looking for doesn’t come, no matter how much you pay. No matter what system you try. It might seem like it at first, so you feel some temporary relief. But in the end, the uncertainty comes back, because you still don’t know what the hell you’re doing. The fear arises. You search some more.
Uncertainty, and the fear and discomfort that arises from uncertainty, will always be there, unless you’re doing something you absolutely know how to do (like watching TV, checking Facebook or playing games). And who wants to only do the easy stuff in life? You’ll never learn anything new, never push into greatness, always run from the fear.
Doing the easy stuff and running from the fear doesn’t work anyway. You still have uncertainty, but you try to ignore it, assuage it with the distractions.
All other systems but mine are crushed by uncertainty, fear, discomfort, and running from these difficulties.

The Perfect System to Crush All Others

OK, so now we see why the other systems are all weak, scrawny, laughable attempts at making our lives better. We scoff at them!
I have a system that will destroy all others, crush them like soft peaches. The Perfect System.
I am going to give it to you for free. Unfortunately, it won’t work for you unless you’re willing to push yourself a bit and do a bit of work. I realize that means it’s not perfect for most of you, who want something easy and certain. You are not worthy of my Perfect System, so don’t read it.
The rest of you (both of you), read on!
Here’s the system:
1.       Notice when you are looking for certainty from a system, course, book, and so on. Notice when you’re procrastinating or running to distraction because of uncertainty.
2.       Acknowledge that you are feeling uncertainty. That you are trying to find certainty.
3.       Say to yourself, “Certainty is the enemy of awesome. Uncertainty is the fuel for an amazing life.” Repeat it until you believe it. Say it with gusto, zest and verve! Yell it out loud until your neighbors look up from their phones in dismay!
4.       Resolve yourself to not run from uncertainty like a coward, but to face it like a warrior, like a goddess, like a Jedi Ninja Pirate Demigod.
5.       Stay with the feeling of fear and uncertainty. It is uncomfortable. You laugh at the discomfort in derision, laugh at its pathetic attempts at making you flee.
6.       Push further into uncertainty and fear by doing whatever you are afraid of. Feel the fear. Feel the uncertainty. Feel it transforming you into a powerful being, trembling with the discomfort of being amazing and delicious. Cry out from the pain of it all, the pain of being beautiful and alive, the pain of joining with the likes of Odysseus and Genghis Khan and Joan of Arc, the anguish of your divinity, the pangs and torment of becoming a celestial deity.
Repeat until whatever you’re doing becomes comfortable. Then push into new uncertain territory, feeling the groundlessness of growth and learning and fearlessness.
You no longer need to run. You can stay in courage and awesomeness.
You no longer need to find certainty or answers or systems. You have all you need inside you, bursting with light and goodness, shining your powers into the vast and tremulous universe.

Epistemic Closure

"It is frustrating: this thing that sociologists call epistemic closure. There’s a term for it, which in essence means a closed information loop." ...
"Epistemology is the study of how we know what we think we know. Smart people ask themselves: how do I know this? Other people hear something and believe it if they like it — and for sure, mere belief as the standard for truth is most of the problem. (It’s most of the problem with astrology; most astrologers have not a scant clue how they know what they know, which I call the epistemology problem.)
People whose lives are dictated by epistemic closure are unlikely to change. For them, it’s an urgently necessary defense mechanism. And if nobody has said it recently, we don’t need them to change. In fact, the notion that they can change and that we might help them change is a trap. The alternate is not preaching to the choir; rather, we who approach existence with some curiosity and a touch of humor are the ones who need to get smarter, and teach one another to be smarter and more effective.
Practicing your religion is not about all those sinners; it’s about you being more faithful. This is the way out of ‘us and them’ thinking. Also, in no way must you be unkind to anyone; you just don’t need to give them your precious time and energy. You don’t owe your blood to any vampires."
— Eric Francis, What Do We Do About These Flesh-Eating Zombies?
