"Pongáio" was the name my Aunt Mona gave to a long, green, cool room where we gathered at her home —
replete with comfy chairs, a rocker, sewing machine, sewing goods, beautiful beads, shelves, books, bibelots, photographs, odds'n'ends, mementos of a life, treasures —
a gathering of all the useful & 'useless' things that so make life a pleasure.

Fear of Change

from Fe Bongolan's Shock Value
"It all boils down to that, doesn’t it? Folks are afraid, and they will react not only in fear of someone taking away their guns, but of women and same sexes freely having sex. It’s in every anti-gay, and anti-abortion initiative since the 1980s: fear of change itself.

We’re still anxious over the breakdown of the way things were; the loosening of the traditional family structure; the fear of people different from you. There is fear that you might not be in the majority — in control, in the right — anymore. And that can make you feel unsafe and willing by any means necessary to bring it all down. But that unsettling feeling is settling in on them — their majority is at its twilight, and all they can do is slow things down."

... What if you fly?

From a poem by Erin Hanson,
 Reverie (The Poetic Underground #1)

“There is freedom waiting for you,
On the breezes of the sky,
And you ask "What if I fall?"
Oh but my darling,
What if you fly?”

Gomez! Tisha!

Gomez: [Morticia wakes up] Unhappy, darling?
Morticia: Oh, yes. Yes completely.
[Gomez sits]
Morticia: Gomez... Sun. Il me perce comme un poignard.
Gomez: Oh, Tish. That's French.
Morticia: Oui.
Gomez: Cara mia.
[kisses Morticia's hand]
Gomez: En garde, Monsieur Soleil!
Morticia: Gomez...
Gomez: Querida?
Morticia: Last night, you were unhinged. You were like some desperate howling demon. You frightened me. Do it again.

New Moon in Sagittarius

New Moon in Sagittarius
Saturday, November 22, 4:32 am PST, 7:32 am EST
The New Moon in visionary Sagittarius opens our hearts and minds to faraway places and big ideas. Imaginative Neptune’s square brings faith and fantasy that either inspires grander visions or takes us well past the limits of reality. This Sun-Moon conjunction in astrology’s most adventurous sign is an invitation to broaden horizons through higher education and travel. It also plants seeds for seeking and speaking the truth. Sagittarius is a sign of both humor and honesty (with a little exaggeration thrown in to make the stories more interesting), but can sometimes lack sensitivity to the insecurities of others. Expressing beliefs openly can feel liberating but it is not a license to judge or lecture people without regard to their feelings. When faith in what we’re saying is shaky, we push others harder to get their support, but when conviction is real there’s no need to force people to agree with us. Responsible Saturn’s conjunction to this lunation is a reminder that the consequences and costs of traveling a new road may not be recognized at first, making caution an essential element of a successful journey.

For a Friend

Jon Henrik Fjällgren

Gorgeous... beautiful!!!
... even with the grimaces and posturings of the EGOnalities personalities of these panels!
Jon is singing a yoik (or joik or jojk) he wrote about missing his best friend Daniel who had passed in one of the Saami languages. Saami are the minority indigenous people of Nordic Europe and currently inhabit the artic regions of Norway, Sweden, Finland and the Russian Kola Peninsula. Jon was adopted from South America by Swedish Saami people, so he is Saami by culture but not ancestry. I'm an American whose grandmother was Saami from Finland. The joiks I've heard are exceptionally beautiful and ethereal....when listening to a yoik, whether you understand the words or not, makes you feel like you're listening to the whispers of Angels carried by the wind! Lyrics (from comments, 2016)   Daniel p1 ano atrás

Do you go with me yet, my dear friend,
Though I no longer see you? Are you still here on earth,
So as you remain in my heart?
       I lie there and brood,
It is desolate quiet around me.
       Tears break out and fall,
       I thought of you.

An angel here was forgotten left,
       Have now got his wings.
Where do you fly now, my angel?
       Where do you fly now?

You fly through the pearly gates, say?
Or the end of the world?
If you are flying next to me?
       Or am I alone now?

Where you now are, my friend.
       Wherever the road for you.
       Promise me you'll wait there,
       Until I meet you.

       I hope you're happy now.
So as I was with you.
And the pain you have suffered,
       Hope it is forgotten.

       Float freely, my dear friend.
       You are free now.
       And until we meet again,
       Farewell, my angel.

Love Lighing the Dark

"Venus enters Pisces at 4:31 pm EDT Saturday to powerfully evoke where love meets confusion. Powerful because Venus is exalted in Pisces — another way of saying empowered to express itself freely. Love because, among other things, Venus correlates with emotional attractions. Then, there’s confusion.

The likely correspondence to confusion has to do with the first aspect Venus will make upon entrance to Pisces — a conjunction with the centaur object 7066 Nessus."
...
"When fast and slow objects function to enter a new sign at essentially the same time and come together in the first degree, it’s astonishing timing."
 ...
"Because of their orbital characteristics, and probable origins at the shadowy edges of the solar system, astrologers frequently connect centaurs with the psychological concept of shadow material.
Shadow material is complex and nuanced, just like the orbits of centaurs. Nevertheless, it is possible to say the concept is usually about traumatic or otherwise uncomfortable past experience that has not yet been resolved or integrated — persistently following you like a shadow. Eric, among astrology’s pioneers interpreting centaur objects, has demonstrated a strong connection between Nessus and the shadow of abuse."
...
"Maybe astrologer Robert Hand expressed the truth best when he wrote “In its highest manifestation Venus is love, the emotion that brings people together without force or compulsion.” Perhaps, upon entry to its Pisces exaltation, Venus will be free to express the truth powerfully. Perhaps it is a truth that will set you free of shadow material when Venus and Nessus come together against all odds and without any force or compulsion except synchronicity in the first degree of Pisces come Saturday."
