"Pongáio" was the name my Aunt Mona gave to a long, green, cool room where we gathered at her home —
replete with comfy chairs, a rocker, sewing machine, sewing goods, beautiful beads, shelves, books, bibelots, photographs, odds'n'ends, mementos of a life, treasures —
a gathering of all the useful & 'useless' things that so make life a pleasure.

Transparencies

As I spend times away, when I do come back sometimes there are some new Blogger features. I saw that recently Blogger nows allows for tranparencies. Lovely.

I tried out some of the new blogger templates, but just too much work to find&learn on the template to adjust to my taste right now. I'll just leave as is for the moment, as this one continues to please me.

(But I do want to do something nice with those transparencies!!!)

Crepes!

Son² came back from Paris last month with a raclette, grill and crepe-maker that his friend, who lives there, suggested he buy.
It has actually become a very handy appliance: melting cheese, toasting bread, making pancakes, and the other day I even fried an egg on it (well, it came out more of a poached effect).
It even makes crepes!

These are the photos of the debut, a few weekends ago.

Son² in action

 The delicious result:

Yummmmnnn!

I wanted to make the crepe-making photo with a photoshop action, The B&Big Picture by Panos. The freebie version automatically divides the image in 5x5 "polaroids", with no way to change (at least, I couldn't figure out a way!)... my collage would have to be 5x5 images, and not 3x3 as I was able to make..

This was the result: cool, but rather confusing!

Good Sunday

After the rain, some sunshine and better weather — out of the emotional doldrums also.

Spent the last few day out of the house at my latest project, the new appartment of good friends, getting measurements, taking pics, and trying to figure out how to use the old furnishings, fit them, in the new apt. After a few cad (drawing, that is!) sessions in between, starting to have a glimmering!
The decorator-angel is helping.
The client has some 60's sofas, 80's sofas and tables, older fashioned pieces, some made of now forbidden rosewood.
(and lots and lots of romantic doodads, souvenirs, little paintings...)
Have to get everyone talking harmoniously to each other.

I've added a "real-time" Earth and Moon gadget to my side-bar.
I love the Moon, quite a lunatic, in fact.
I hope it doesn't make the loading here too heavy.

A Clock! Finally!

Ever since last year,I've been meaning to add a clock gadget on my blog(s). I don't know what happens, but something certainly does, that I do not get to finish the process, e v e r y single time.

Weeeelll... finally, I managed to get from A to B... and the clock is in my sidebar!
I chose this one, although many nice ones there:
A clock in a delicious, roundish-shaped drop of water, dewdrop, or smooth crystal — and I love delicious, roundish, smooth shapes (just check out all the rocks about the house!) as well as transparencies; just too lovely to resist!
I also love watermelon... and pears!
Oh! how to choose?!

All clocks above from ClockLink.com

At ToolShell there are also many cool clocks, as MM can attest:

(I'm here...)

I've been doing some fall-cleaning here at my blogs; and tweakings fonts, etc.
So, though not "appearing" in posts, I AM here! Have been during this weekend.

Yesterday was the last day of Summer Time.
I do love Summer Time, but I'm always happy when it's over... and then anxious for its return when the end of the year comes around again.

Although still very hot during the day, especially in the sun, at night it's beginning to cool down.
Lovely!

Enough of computer and cyberland for today!
I'm off now some food & movie: new dvd's are in the living room.

tweaking

The grey background was rather depressing, albeit elegant.
Rather than modify the image background, I tweaked,
and tweaked,
a-a-and twe-eee-eaked
the template to change the color...
then I had to change the width...  then the padding... *sigh* ... till something relatively decent was appearing... AND worked!!!

BUT, but, a good way to learn!

I now looks like this (for future reference):
Tweaking Vincent

I chose the green from one in the abckground, then lightened it some.

New Background

While I'm working on.... trying to get something to work! ... on making my own template, I just couldn't resist the loveliness of this background, with Blogger Minima template.

It's from Itkupilli, a Finnish designer, from her site, from a painting of Vincent van Gogh
I love the colors, and the work of van Gogh, who I was drawn to as a youngster and greatly inspired me on in the formation my personal art work theory.

Importing... II

Well... I did it!

... and, doing something wrong, it actually came out right!

Since I wasn't able to read those weird, horrid, confirmation-text letters correctly, I had to do the process again, and this time I forgot to mark the "import and publish" box.
So, they weren't. (duuuhhh!...) (... I'm a bit slow to understand all these instructions!)
As this is exactly what I wanted to do for this "new", mainly English, Pongaio blog, all I can say is: yea!!!

Now I can go slowly choosing and translating (if needed) the posts to add here.

Importing... I

I'm going to try "import other blog"... hope it works!
Huh... ... ... maybe not? ["medaaaaaa"... acared, mama!]
Aaaaah, why not!

Ugh-y

Not so good a day, so far. I think result of the bodywork on Wednesday. Sinus-y, nauseous-y, and generally ugh-y.
Buuut... happy that I got this blog up and running!

Minutinho Blog — "Christmas-y"

A minutinho here today, a little minute, to write something, and try out this blog background, Dear Santa, from The Cutest Blog on the Block that has great tips, and lots of goodies.

The images seem to float!... Hmmmnnnn... actually the text moving, and the transparent effect fooling the eye!

The loading of the background takes a rather loooong time, though.

For a better appearance, I'd have to adjust the margin of the posts, and change font/link colors. (done... with blogger-post-format)

Update: I modified the background image, for a better placement of the text. I uploaded it to my Photobucket, but the linked image too small! It seems freebie account limited in size!?
So, uploaded it to Picasa... after a bit of a fight to get the right html tag, it finally worked! Never thought I'd be back, but: yea, Picasa!!!

Great find: Posy!

Off and on, checking out helpfull blogging sites, and gaining ideias and info about making a new template, or at least, a new background. I don't know if I'll go with my orignal ideia of a rose floral patchwork... or what.

On my searches for my recent obsessions:
cottages, roses, miniatures, skies, ... ,
I've como across some inspiring blogs.

A favorite is Posy , Jane's blog from Devon.
From her's onwards, a whole world of mother-of-three (coincidence) creative, crafting, home-loving women's blogs. Enough to make one learn how to sew after all these years!

Aaaargh!

Third time trying to post!
Aaaargh!
Let's see if it'll now work...

Battle of the Blog

Uffffpphhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Setting up a new blog... and for hubby!
First, tried a it as a site at freewebs. But there, although a good service, one cannot change anything of the templates; so, not for me!

Therefore, falling back to Blogger.

The Window into the Abyss

Ka:
Getting a beating today from Blogger! Trying to put in a calendar... but!!!!!....

Mari:
Is it that strange image blinking half error?

Ka:
Yessss!
Although here, only a blank: A window into the cybernetic abyss!

Everything now with "easy buttons", have you noticed?
They want to do everything, do too much... and NOT what we want... like some crazed robot helper!!!
Rosie ataca!

Mari:
Just like in the Jetsons!

Ka:
Exactly! A Miss Wordinária... with that little lace cap!

Ka:
These little blogger widget monsters!

Taking over everything, ..."helping"... ,
at the same time reducing the options, not letting us do what we want... driving one crazy!
A tyranny of help... aaaarghhh!

Wow!

1024 MB!
That's how much "space" that we have for free to upload images!!!
Wow!
They will be saved on Picasa
As the Blogger Help: Picture Posting FAQ says:
"What does this cost?
Free! Photos in blog posts for free! Go nuts people!"

I'm not one to do ads, but compared to the restraints of before... heaven!

Good Morning!

Well...
Still here; the blog, that is.
So, Good Morning!

I think I'll stay here at Blogger... although the domain doesn't appeal to me.
After all, blogSPOT sounds like something you have to remove quickly from the uphostelry before it sets in!

But it'll be fun to play with html code again in setting up a personalized template.
This one, Scribe, is already pretty nice — fantástico compared to the gawdawfull ones supplied at the other blog server.

... images

From what I understood, a giga for images, saved at someplace-Picasa...
Can that be right? All that for images? That is an improvement from the allowance before!

... formatting posts

Hmmmnnnnnn...
Basic formating for the posts easier:
text color easy...
fonts alsoif of pre-chosen 7; these must be the "safe" ones...
sizes...  size size size size size
sizes... smallest size  small size normal size large size largest size
An Uh Oh!: no diference on the published page between smallest and small... something in the template?

... and other interesting stuff
